What if I could take you to your future?

In my other business – Inspiration North – we have a podcast that shares inspiring stories from inspirational people and how they found their passion – their True North.
At the end of the podcast, we ask each of our guests the same question.
If we could take you back to your 18-year-old self, what advice would you give to them?
There are some really insightful reflections and thoughts for the guests’ younger selves. And what powerful information to use with all that wisdom and hindsight to make the most of.
It got me thinking. What if I turned this the other way around? We head to the future...

So, I pull up outside your place in the DeLorean.
As the door opens, The Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News is piping from the stereo.
You jump in and we set the date for the 7th of March 2031.
We make sure we have enough road and air space to get up to 88 miles per hour and set off.
When we get there, we park up and take care to not have your future self catch sight of you. We know the ramifications of disrupting the space time continuum, so we do our best to move around incognito!
What would you see?
Imagine...there you are in the garden, perhaps cutting the grass, or reading a good book in the sun or, even worse, getting some work in before a new week starts.
You are 10 years older but what if nothing has changed?
Everything is exactly as it is today on the 7th of March 2021...(or should that be "as it was" as we left 2021?!)
It turns out you didn’t win the lottery. You didn’t lose that weight you wanted to.
You didn’t get that inheritance from some unknown relative.
You never started that business or changed direction in your career. You still hate the Monday morning commute and are already thinking about it on what is meant to be a relaxing Sunday.
You never did ask that person out (perhaps a work colleague or someone in your social circle).
You didn’t take that special holiday either.
How would that feel? What emotions are most powerful for you reading this?
So, if you had this knowledge of what the future holds for you and it is not at all what you would dream about or want to happen, what could you be proactively doing today to change this?
These uncomfortable thoughts and feelings are a great thing. They are all rocket fuel for taking action to create the person you want to be in 2031.
And we all have the choice to do something now.
Your future self will thank you for it...
Some music inspiration to add to the blog...
